A slap in the face for free speech? Venezuelan lashes out on live TV

A female politician has repeatedly slapped a journalist in the face live on national TV in Venezuela. Congresswoman Iris Varela stormed into the studio during Gustavo Azocar's programme, accusing him of slander.
The woman says she was outraged by a book written by Azocar, in which he recounts the death of her infant son.
The confrontation has opened a debate about press freedom in Venezuela, as Varela is close political ally of authoritarian President Hugo Chavez. Azocar is an outspoken critic of leftist leader…
